Despite those formative influences, Brown's guitar style is not easy to categorize or compare to any one other guitarist. Really, it's Kirk Brown, which is as it should be... the blues is self-expression. A strong and powerful singer, his vocal style has been likened to Johnny Winters'.

Griffin and the Gargoyles voted "Best Cover Band" for 2010 by the Riverfront Times.
Griffin and the Gargoyles, St. Louis' newest supergroup. Comprised of memebers of both Gargoyle Reign and Lounge, GATG is reloaded and restocked with new songs, new sets and a new attitude. The Killers, Maroon 5? Got it covered. Gnarls Barkley, Usher, Eminem...we are there. You want to rock out with BuckCherry's Crazy Bitch or re-live the glory days with Rage Against the Machine or Nirvana? We will be right there with you banging heads and playing Bon Jovi and Def Leppard...
Griffin & the Gargoyles musicianship, style, and extensive playlist is the reason they were voted “Best Cover Band” in the Riverfront Times’ Best of St. Louis 2010 awards. Their ability to jump from rock to funk, Motown to hip-hop on a moment’s notice is what makes Griffin and the Gargoyles so irresistible. For weddings, the bride & groom can custom make their playlists, because Griffin & the Gargoyles can cover it all from Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra to Flo Rida or John Mellencamp. Their unique energy and freshness will keep you coming back for more!

For updates and a schedule go to The Surge on Facebook
For those who want a fast-paced, head-bobbing jam session, The Surge delivers. Big on energy and crowd interaction, the band can be seen at popular Lake area events such as The Lake of the Ozarks Pub Crawl and St. Patrick's Day. Members are from the Lake and Jefferson City areas. “We are a very upbeat band with danceable music and sing-a-long anthem rock,” says member Shawn Crowe.
The Surge started as four guys jamming together in Doug's basement. They didn’t plan on playing “officially”, but changed their minds when they received a call from Backwater Jack's to fill in for a band that canceled.
