Gareth Asher Passionate singer-songwriter from ATL
Live Music
Event Time 6:00 PM |
Fri 5/25 Dog Days |
| Rock and Roll latched onto Gareth Asher before he turned five. He grew up in the Appalachian foothills of West Georgia , listening to his parents’ rock and roll band and singing along with the records of great artists like Don Henley, Jackson Browne, Bob Seager, and Bruce Springsteen. The day he picked up a guitar and strummed it, he knew he’d found his instrument. Passionate about singing, he wrote his first song at age 15 and was jamming with local performers as soon as they would let him in the clubs to play. He continued working on his songwriting and guitar playing while a student at the local university and soon became the featured entertainer in local venues, where his passionate voice delivering original lyrics—the kind that make you want to sit up and listen--quickly developed a loyal audience. |

Nic Cowan
Memorial Day Weekend @ Lake of the Ozarks
Event Time 10:00 PM |
Sun 5/27 Dog Days |
By infusing soul, country, blues, and rock, then layering that on top of organic urban grooves and a voice reminiscent of Otis Redding and Chris Robinson, you find a new sound in Nic Cowan. His music is full of texture and grit with lyrics that are engaging, self-reflective and down right clever. Nic’s musical versatility allows him to silence a crowd with his serious and softer side but he can also make a crowd cut loose. After one listen you’ll know that this Texas native, Georgia transplant is anything but your run of the mill singer-songwriter.
Nic has shared the stage with some of the nation’s best touring musicians in the industry including Zac Brown Band, Sister Hazel, Shawn Mullins and Drivin’ N Cryin’. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia and is hard at work on his debut album “Hard Headed” due out in the fall of 2010 on Southern Ground Records. Aside from playing shows throughout the southeast supporting his current release “Cheap Wine” Cowan has spent the past year as an opener for the Zac Brown Band on the national Breaking Southern Ground Tour. |

Sunny Ledfurd
Event Time 9:00 PM |
Fri 6/8 Dog Days |
| If there has ever been a way to describe Sunny Ledfurd, it has got to be his ability to defy categorization. Born in Chattanooga TN and growing up in Gaston County NC, he taught himself guitar at age 15. He knew then that playing the guitar was how he would make a living. Inspired by Guns n Roses, Snoop Dog & David Allan Coe among many, Sunny's songs continually mix genres and push the envelope. "I've always liked artists that you can tell they have something to say. They're not just singing some words 'cause it sounds cool." Never one to shy away from a good time... drinking and women are involved in much of the music. With songs like 'I Don't Remember Last Night', 'Pontoon Boat', 'Adderral', and 'Myrtle Beach', Sunny takes you through life in the south as he sees it and lives it. |

Describing Ryan’s live show to new people is not the
easiest thing in the world. The art of live looping is
growing as the technology becomes more accessible,
but the ability to use this tool artistically and fluidly is
difficult to master, and therefore is still rarely seen.
Ryan uses acoustic guitar, voice, bass, harmonica
and an electronic hand percussion instrument to

Carrie Nation & the Speakeasy
Genre: Americana / Showtunes / Thrash |
Thu 6/14 Dog Days |
Carrie Nation & the Speakeasy is a high-energy, acoustic brass 'n' grass outfit based out of Wichita, KS. The band, whose sound has been described as a stagecoach in overdrive, has brought their eclectic blend of punk, bluegrass, dixieland, and circus tunes to packed bars, basements, and festivals across the United States since 2007.
With tunes that cover just about everything from drinkin' to dyin' to livin' and lyin', CNS can fill the dance floor with their blazing bluegrass and circus tunes as quickly as they can provoke existential introspection with dark, slinky tunes reminiscent of a New Orleans funeral march. Blaring trombones melt into break-neck banjo solos, while the "junkyard" trap set and stand-up bass churn out hard-driving rhythms that carry the force of a Kansas freight train.
This unique blend of styles combined with the high energy maintained on stage, allows CNS to fit perfectly into any lineup including folk, bluegrass, punk, metal, ska, or jam. Always providing an energetic and drink 'em down atmosphere to any place they play, Carrie Nation & the Speakeasy has proven a dedication to their live shows with a solid understanding of what entertainment really means. |

Live Music by Phil Stendek
Event Time 6:00 PM |
Wed 6/20 Dog Days |
Artist Bio
To call 2010 US Looping Champion Philip Stendek a solo artist is merely part of the equation. His talent is looping, a very complicated art form involving equal parts dexterity and creativity. The concept is as follows: He takes a guitar, drum set, keyboards, turntables, and vocal microphone, run them into a recording device called a loop station and makes songs with it. The loop station enables him to record one instrument playing a short passage of music, then it plays it back instantly, allowing him to add more layers over it until he eventually emulates the sound of a full band. While the concept of live looping isn't Phil's invention by any means, he definitely puts his own unique twist on the process by utilizing the vast array of instruments at his disposal. He also put a high premium on efficiency, often layering two instruments simultaneously to save time. This process makes playing almost unbearably stressful, but the end result is live looping that sounds like a full band. As far as a genre of music to pigeon-hole him into, Phil is most comfortable with Reggae and/or Acoustic-Pop, although he delves into many different genres in between. |

Chris Weaver Band
Country Music
Event Time 9:00 PM |
Fri 6/29 Dog Days |
Chris Weaver was born to make music. Growing up in West Virginia, his father was a traveling musician for over 25 years and music was always around him. From the early age of ten, Chris knew he would be a musician too. He started to hone his craft through influences like Cocker, Petty, Morrison and Mellencamp “It’s all I could ever remember wanting to do,” Weaver states. “I wanted to write like them and sing like them but just do it in a way that would be my own.”
“I want my music to invoke memories of people’s past, whether good or bad so they may have a deeper relationship with what they’re listening to” says Chris. He not only meets this goal, he blows it away in his emotional live shows as well as his recorded music.
Here’s what people are saying about “Standing In Line” Chris’s first CD
“a voice that draws you in immediately... full of raw emotion.” – Hobnob Wilson
“the music feels like an old friend that you’d take on a long road trip.” – Jackson Music Examiner
“The album is an eclectic mix of songs dedicated to those of us still trying to get our lives together sung from the emotional perspective of a raspy-voiced singer.” – Terry Atkins, Examiner.com |

That 80's Band
Event Time 10:00 PM |
Sat 8/25 Dog Days |
Rubik's Cubes, Pac-Man, skinny ties and leg warmers. "That 80's Band" is bringing back the sound of the 80's pop/new-wave era. Comprised of Valerie Girl (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Mick Fly (Bass/Vocals), Dan Duran (Keyboards/Vocals), Izzy Furreel (Lead Guitar/Vocals) and Johnny Swatch (Drums), "That 80's Band" is a fun, high-energy recreation of the 80's music scene.
This is not a modern version of everyone's favorite 80's tunes...this is as close to going back in time as humanly possible without a
Flux Capacitor and plutonium.
The experienced line-up have the capabilities (and gnarly wardrobe) to cover the most popular (Madonna, Rick Springfield) to the nostalgic one-hit wonders (Aha, Tommy Tutone). So dig out your parachute pants and glove, jackets with lots of zippers, practice your moonwalk and check out this band...they're tubular. |
