BACKBONE is BACK! A few years ago this band was one of the best local bands at the lake. Well, they are back. Penny and the boys are ready to do it again. The band consists of: Penny Lower–lead vocal, Mike Lower–bass and vocal, Steven “Chili” Chilson– guitar and lead vocal, Jake Hanselman–drums and vocal. The Backbone Band originated in 1996. For the next 6 years they performed hundreds of gigs at all the Lake’s hot spots. Penny stated, “Due to several life-changing events over the following years Backbone was in retirement. The music was always with us but we were unable to perform live anymore. Times do change and we are able to perform live once again. We hope that people will still enjoy our music. We will be playing some of our new songs and some originals, some standards and some old favorites. We realize that we have a lot of fans out there who will be excited that we are back.

Country Music
Event Time 9:00 PM
Thu 6/27 thru Sun 6/30
Dog Days
Time:
Thursday: 5pm Friday: 9pm, Saturday 9pm, Sunday: 6pm

Chris Weaver was born to make music. Growing up in West Virginia, his father was a traveling musician for over 25 years and music was always around him. From the early age of ten, Chris knew he would be a musician too. He started to hone his craft through influences like Cocker, Petty, Morrison and Mellencamp “It’s all I could ever remember wanting to do,” Weaver states. “I wanted to write like them and sing like them but just do it in a way that would be my own.”
“I want my music to invoke memories of people’s past, whether good or bad so they may have a deeper relationship with what they’re listening to” says Chris. He not only meets this goal, he blows it away in his emotional live shows as well as his recorded music.
Here’s what people are saying about “Standing In Line” Chris’s first CD
“a voice that draws you in immediately... full of raw emotion.” – Hobnob Wilson
“the music feels like an old friend that you’d take on a long road trip.” – Jackson Music Examiner

6th Annual Support Our Troops Poker Run at the Lake of the Ozarks Fri 6/28
Dog Days
We are proud to announce the dates for the 6th Annual Support Our Troops Poker Run at the Lake of the Ozarks. This year the event will be held on Friday June 28th.

Since its inception 6 years ago, we've grown from 60 boats to averaging almost 120 boats and 500 people from all over the country. The support for our military men and women has been truly humbling, and as a result, the Support Our Troops Poker Run has turned into the biggest poker run at the Lake of the Ozarks.

To date we have raised over $70,000 for Operation Homefront. That money goes directly to assisiting our brave heroes overseas, and the families they leave behind.

We are proud to have been voted the Best Poker Run in the Readers Choice Awards!!!

Live Music w/Driving Wheel
Event Time 6:00 PM
Fri 6/28
Dog Days
The members of Driving Wheel might not be on a mission from God. But that doesn't keep them from existing as blues brothers, driven by a family vibe and a passion to perform for any crowd that will have them. And many have delighted to do so — the band has played at Roots N Blues N BBQ festival, shared a recent bill with Tab Benoit and held hands with fellow local standouts such as The Mojo Roots. The duo that makes up Driving Wheel's core — guitarist Ryan Tomlinson and bassist Jeremy Hunsaker — has fine-tuned a sound that's indebted to torchbearers in the blues, Southern rock and alternative camps. Yet, to hear Hunsaker tell it, the pair's biggest musical influences are one another.

“Sometimes I feel completely disingenuous, the one place I have never felt that way is in music” As an 8 year old, Davin McCoy would whistle “Sittin on the Dock of the Bay” in his sleep. The well of creative passion was beginning to seep. Born in Albany, Georgia and raised in separate households, Davin’s inherent gift and calling for music would finally manifest at age 12, when he found the guitar. Shortly thereafter, Davin began writing his own songs—musical emotion and expression akin to Cat Stevens, Van Morrison and of course, Otis Redding. After a short stint at the University of Hawaii, Davin succumbed to his calling and began his life-long dedication to writing and performing; to observing and inspiring. At 21, Davin teamed up with Clay Cook (John Mayer, Shawn Mullins, Zack Brown, Marshall Tucker) to record his first full length musical effort 40 Days From Friday. Unyielding to fear and eager for experience, Davin quickly shipped off to London where he would take up a publishing deal and continue to write and perform. As the intensity and efficacy of his writing grew, the urge to live and feel and the apparent need to travel and encounter became clearer. Davin’s music would take him over oceans and across continents, from London to L.A., and to Florida via New York. Perhaps in the realization of his roots, Davin returned to Georgia, where parallel destinies converged and a long overdue meeting took place with music legend Davis Causey (Sea Level, Allman Bros.). Recording sessions with Causey led to the creation of So Good, So Cruel, Davin’s newest album and his most inspired work. Inspiring indeed, as Causey would need to hail the talents of masters and former Sea Level band mates Randall Bramblett and Chuck Leavell (Allman Bros, Rolling Stones, Sea Level) to play on the record along with a borrowed Widespread Panic horn section. Together with Casey Crogan on the drums, Davin and company made magic in the studio. Calling on every influence available, there was never an attempt to hide where the bodies in this collection of sure to be classic, timeless songs were buried.

SELLOUT! plays what the people want to hear - over the top decade smash hit songs that get people dancing and partying like there’s no tomorrow. Starting early and closing the place down is what sellout is all about. True, it’s about as cheesy as cheese can get but we all love hearing that familiar song that brings back the best of memories. Focusing on retro dance classics from the 70’s and 80’s may provide the emphasis of the party but Sellout doesn’t stop there. Be it Rock, Funk, Pop, Disco, Grunge or Hip Hop from today going all the way back to the 60’s Sellout brings it to the party. SELLOUT! proudly presents cheese wrapped cheese, dipped in cheese. Join Sellout for a couple of “socials” and you just might find yourself having as much fun as they do!
