Turkey Festival
The 32nd annual Turkey Festival will be held in downtown Eldon Sept. 30. Come and give your best gobble at this year’s Turkey Calling Contest! All ages and skill levels are welcome. Ties will be broken by sounding off of randomly selected calls from the following: yelp of the hen, cutting of the hen, kee kee run or cluck and purr. From 9 a.m.-5 p.m., food vendors will offer choices including smoked turkey legs, fried turkey breast, kettle corn, sno-cones and more. Bring your appetite because the Turkey Festival is a no-diet zone, say organizers.

The parade - themed “Down on the Farm” this year - is held at 10 a.m. The Gospel Stage will feature several talented acts, and a quilt show will be held at the community center. There will be exhibitions by the Eldon High School Cheer Squad, gymnasts, jazz band and Chamber Choir and Women’s Select Choir. Other events at this festival include the Turkey Trot 5K, Pure Power Tractor Association Show, SkillsUSA Car Smashing, Hoot ‘n’ Holler Party Ponies, children’s games and bounce house, a photo workshop, Young Eagles flights at the airport and turkey bowling.

The traditional “old style” circus will present performances at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The event supports the Camdenton Optimist Club. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $12 for adults and $6 for children. Admission on the day of the circus is $16 for adults and $8 for children.
