TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT THIS RESORT/MARINA
Added on 08/25/2015 by kmorningstar80@yahoo.comWe have rented condo units here before and we also had a month-to-month lease for our boat here at Robin's Resort. The resort has always been kept very clean (except for the pool bathroom.) At the beginning everything was great, and this would've been our 2nd season at Robin's. We started having problems on the dock with other condo renters coming onto the dock and using our dock furniture, opening our personal items and using them, it went as far as us losing one of our outdoor dining chairs in the water while we were gone. We questioned Maggie on making this one particular dock private, for just boat owners only, and her response was that it's a "family resort" and all renters have access to all docks! We, as well as other boat owners started experiencing more of these type of instances going on, and another boat owner's swim platform was ruined by one of the condo renters or their guest. We were noth the only boat owner that experienced these types of problems, and within about a 2 week time period, Maggie & Roger received notice that they would be losing 3 boat slip renters because of all of these types of issues. We finally made the decision to move to a better, more private marina, and we notified Maggie & Roger(mgmt.) of this and told them we would be out by the end of the next month. So they were verbally given notice, and then on the day we moved out of our dock slip, which was the first of that next month, we provided them with written notice. Again, we were on a MONTH-TO-MONTH agreement, and the monthly dock fee was agreed between myself and Maggie to be automatically withdrawn from our bank account on the 15th of every month. So on the 1st of the month (our move out day) Maggie proceeds to come down to the dock where we are packing up our belongings and very forceful, places her hands down on our dock locker, slamming the lid where my husband was packing up our items and gets in his face and proceeds to verbally abuse him. There were approximately 5-7 other people that witnessed this, myself included. Once I saw her get in my husband's face pointing her finger, I walked over and asked her who she thought she was coming down on the dock and treating her customers this way. I was astonished that the owner of a business would come down and verbally attack a customer of hers, and then I was informed that she told my husband that "she ought to lay him out flat!" That to me is not how a business owner should act, or anyone for that matter. Not someone that I would like my family or friends to do business with, and have the possibility of having this type of run-in with her! Once I got involved in the conversation, she very soon after walked away and went back up to her office. Then later that day I realized that Maggie took it upon herself to debit my account for another month of dock rental fees. This is fraud, debiting a person's account, without authorization, and they were given notice that we would not be renting from them any longer and therefore that made our month-to-month agreement null and void! Now remember, earlier I explained that the agreement was for the monthly dock fees to be withdrawn on the 15th of the month, and this was the 1st of the month, and the day that we were moving out. I went up to her office and questioned her about this, and she said that it was for our monthly dock rental fees, and I explained to her yet again, that we were moving our boat and we would not be there for this month. She then tried telling me that if another boat owner decided to rent our slip, they would consider refunding my monthly dock rental fee. This was SO dishonest and SO sneaky, and just terrible business practices!! Not at all how you would think a "family type resort" would conduct business. Later that night, I personally took pictures so that I had proof of a boat owner taking over our dock slip. I then immediately forwarded pictures of this proof to Maggie & Roger, and again it was still the 1st of the month!! Maggie & Roger proceeded to tell me several days later, after I had to continuously follow up with them, that they were deducting $140 from my pro-rated refund due to some APPARENT damage that was done to two of their dock fenders. Now keep in mind, these are the same dock fenders that were there when we signed the month-to-month slip lease, and there was NEVER any written documentation confirming that these dock fenders had been previously damaged before we took over this slip. Just as if you were to rent a car, you personally inspect the car with the rental company to make notes of any damage prior to use of the vehicle. So now Maggie & Roger claim that we damaged 2 of their dock fenders, and they feel the need to steel our money in order to repair items on their dock that should've been replaced LONG before we ever took over renting this particular slip! We're VERY particular people when it comes to our belongings, and we do not damage other people's property, just as we would not like it done to us. Maggie & Roger both know that we did not damage these 2 dock fenders in this slip, and this was just their way of trying to keep some of their profits. My main reason for writing this review is to simply let others know the type of people that are running this resort. This review goes to show you the type of people they are, their lack or morals and integrity, and just overall very sneaky very dishonest individuals. I would hate for others to be taken advantage of the way that my family was
