Will NOT recommend

When we saw the website for this place, it looked great. It showed nice spacious, grassy tent areas, and the website touted a game room, a store with groceries and a petting zoo. Wow- were we mislead. First of all, this so-called "camp-ground" is in the middle of a residential area! Upon arrival, we were told we had to pay for two tent sites, as we had two tents, even though the pictures of the tent sites looked very capable of supporting at least two. We paid over 80$ for two nights, and after the money exchanged hands, we were then told we had to pay extra for using the boat dock. This dock was across the main road, down a very curvy drive, with very tight angles, with no room to park a trailer afterward. So you had to put the boat in, drive back to the campground, and walk at least a half mile back. We were then told if we didn't use the dock, we would be charged again for leaving the boat at the campsite. At this point we contemplated leaving, however, there were no refunds! So making the best of it, we were lead to the tent sites. They were cramped, on top of one another, extremely rocky, and not taken care of. I tripped so many times, I sprained my ankle. The owner was very proud of the "pads" she had put in, which is why she charged us for two sites. However these pads were too small for standard tents, and pea gravel was used as fill. Staking down the tents was next to impossible because of the rocky sites, and there was NO grass at all. We were at the end of a gravel road that was all RVs. Kinda like when they made this road for RV sites, they excavated all the rocky cover, moved it to the end of the road, and called it tent sites. The campground itself, turns out, was basically a trailer park. The RVs were there permanently, and used as residences. Another area of the "campground" was actually filled with mobile homes. When we walked to the shower house, we saw the area that the pics were taken, and it was indeed a grassy, open area that would have been very nice. And since we were the ONLY tent campers the entire weekend, we were not happy we were not put there. I could understand if the sites were full, however there were NO other tent campers! The "game room" consisted of a ping pong table. Outside, there was a playground, and besides some play equipment, there was a basketball hoop on grass, and a pile of old tires to play on. The "grocery store" consisted of about two shelves of dusty cans, and very few food items. The "petting zoo" had a couple of geese and some alpacas. There were dogs allowed to roam free, so perhaps they were part of the zoo. The whole weekend was more than disappointing. If the campground was better, I would not have minded the price. I have been tent camping for 20 years, and this is the worst place I have ever been. By the looks of the luxury vehicles in the owners drive, it was apparent the revenue was not being invested back into the campground. Would not recommend for camping at all!
